Number of CoL homes: 275Matumbei is nestled in the slopes of Mt. Elgon. Most of the 22,000 people raise cattle to sell meat or milk. Others are farmers, growing maize (corn), beans, potatoes and sugar cane.
The first-ever CoL Centre was launched in Matumbei in March of 2003. The presence of CoL has encouraged several other community projects, including a tree nursery (to address deforestation), new businesses, educational opportunities for orphans and preschoolers, and, most recently, a medical clinic.
Community Prayer Requests:- Abundant rain and adequate temperatures that will help the farmers reap a great harvest.
- God’s spirit is called for to bring a supernatural spirit of peace between Matumbei’s people, of the Sabaot tribe, and their neighbors, of the Kikuyu and Luhya tribes.
- The community is in need of godly leadership and protection against spiritual attacks, especially for the CoL program committee.
- Matumbei youth, including many orphans, need God’s love, acceptance, protection and wisdom as they grow up amid an HIV/AIDS epidemic.
