Circle of Light - Energy to lift the world's poor out of darkness

Kipkeikei
Number of CoL homes: 854
In Kipkeikei, houses with grass thatched roofs are spread out over the gentle slopes. It is chilly in the months of May and September because of heavy rains. The population is young, and it is very diverse because of the many tribal groups represented—Kalejin, Luhya, Gusii, Kikuyu and Turkana.

Farms in the area mainly grow corn and beans and properties range from half an acre to hundreds of acres. Some people support themselves with small shops or kiosks in the marketplace.

Circle of Light (CoL) was launched in the community of Kipkeikei in June of 2004. Many in Kipkeikei are Christians. A local evangelist and Christian residents are involved in evangelism and discipleship throughout the area.

Community prayer requests:

  • Kipkeikei CoL members have yet to initiate new projects to address community challenges. Finding financial resources to fund proposed projects is one of the obstacles they face. Pray that they would be empowered to organize themselves and that the Lord would give them creativity and wisdom in how to raise funds.
  • The community needs improved infrastructure—educational and medical facilities and better roads.
  • Pray for continued evangelism activities in the area, and that strong discipleship training follows so that new Christians can mature in their faith.
