The Circle of Light (CoL)
Energy Stores have become a community focal point where people
congregate. Taking advantage of all the foot traffic going to and from
the Energy Store (people go to recharge their lighting-system batteries
and refill their propane cylinders for cooking), entrepreneurs are
opening new cafes and businesses all around the CoL Center. Stores can
stay open later in the evenings and earn more income thanks to the
lighting systems. And, now that women are saving time on cooking and
gathering wood, they are making crafts and selling homegrown vegetables
to supplement family income.
